Shashank Singh Commends Shreyas Iyer's Impact
Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India] - Following a decisive seven-wicket victory against the Mumbai Indians (MI) in Jaipur, Punjab Kings (PBKS) batter Shashank Singh expressed his admiration for team captain Shreyas Iyer. This win has secured PBKS a top-two position in the IPL points table, allowing them to advance to Qualifier 1.
During the post-match press conference, Shashank emphasized the positive influence Iyer has had on the team's culture since he took over as captain.
“Shreyas is a close friend of mine; we’ve known each other for around 10-15 years,” Shashank remarked.
“Honestly, playing under his captaincy has been one of the best experiences of my career,” he continued.
Shashank highlighted Iyer's inclusive leadership style, noting that his approach benefits not only the players but also the entire support staff.
“The freedom he grants to everyone, including all 25 squad members, support staff, content creators, media personnel, and logistics teams, is truly admirable,” he stated.
He also discussed the team culture fostered by Iyer and head coach Ricky Ponting.
“The environment cultivated under Ricky Sir and Shreyas is something we all value. We genuinely care for one another, which is the core principle they emphasize,” Shashank explained.
“They believe that if we uphold this culture and support each other, the results will follow naturally,” he added.
Under Iyer's guidance, Punjab Kings have developed into a strong and cohesive team this season, aiming for his second IPL title.
